Technical Institutes

Technical colleges offer a solid cultural grounding in science and technology. At the same time, they favour the development of skills that allow immediate entry into the world of work, e.g. in a company or self-employment. A diploma from a technical institute makes it possible to continue one's studies at university, especially towards degree courses in science, technology and economics, or to specialise further at ITS Academy - Higher Technological Institutes.

Two sectors, eleven branches
The decree of the President of the Republic March 15, 2010, n. 88, regulating the reorganisation of technical institutes, provides for two sectors, economic and technological, and eleven branches. The branches of the technical institutes are also designed for employability: the world of work is looking for specialised technicians and in Italy there are not enough of them

Construction, environment and land use

To work in the fields of building, construction, environmental protection and workplace safety.

Suitable for anyone who

wants to work in construction and building conservation with a focus on land protection, enhancement and environmental protection;
has an interest in the construction business and in subjects such as topographical surveying and valuation;
wants to work for the protection of the territory and the prevention of environmental risks.

You will learn to

use the graphic, design and computer skills acquired in the construction field to organise construction sites and administer buildings;
select environmentally friendly construction materials, tools and devices in compliance with environmental protection legislation;
work in the construction industry, intervening in the management and maintenance of buildings in compliance with workplace safety regulations.

The value of science and technology together

The new technical institutes develop the combination of science and technology to encourage the growth of a culture of innovation. With a technical institute diploma, young people learn to understand and develop the pleasure of being a part of that transformation.

Programme and duration

Each course has a duration of five years divided into two two-year periods and a fifth year. At the end of the five-year course, students take the state exam and obtain the upper secondary education diploma. The study programme uses innovative teaching methods: thanks to laboratory teaching and courses for transferable skills and orientation, the so-called PCTO, students achieve the results envisaged by the exit profile of the individual curricula.

Customising courses

Schools can customise courses of study using the margin of autonomy of 20% of the total timetable. To respond to the needs of the territory and the training needs expressed by the world of work, courses can be further divided into options, using the margins for flexibility of 30% in the second two-year period, and 35% in the fifth year.
